Jitka Hosprová, Viola

Jitka Hosprová has appeared as a soloist with orchestras in her native Czech Republic: Prague Philharmonia, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Prague Chamber Orchestra, etc. and has given many chamber concerts together with renowned Czech artists and ensembles Katerina Englichová, Ivan Zenaty, Wihan Quartet, Czech Philharmonic Collegium, etc.  She has given concerts in a number of European countries: Germany, France, Austria, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Monte Carlo, among others.  In 2005/06 she appeared in concerts in the USA, Luxembourg, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Jitka Hosprová is a protégé of the world-renowned Italian viola player and professor Luigi Alberto Bianchi. 

Her debut CD, “Rhapsody”, with compositions by Klement Slavicky, Bohuslav Martinu, Zdenek Lukás, Benjamin Britten, Sylvie Bodorova and Vittorio Monti came out in 2001 on the Arco Diva label.  Her first orchestral CD, was released in September 2005, with Concertos by Bohuslav Martinu, Zdenek Lukás, and Carl Stamitz.  In March 2006 she recorded, together with harpist Katerina Englichová, and flutist Carlo Jans, chamber music by Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, and Jolivet.

She began playing the violin at the age of seven.  In 1989, she started studying the viola at the Conservatory of Pilsen.  Under the guidance of Prof. Jan Motlik, she won the first prize at the International Viola Competition in Hradec and Moravici in the under 18 category. In 2001 she finished her studies at The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague studying with Prof. Jan Peruska. 

In 1995, she won a scholarship to attend the summer master courses in Semmering, Austria, where she worked with the famous violist Günter Frühling and received a special prize given by the Bohuslav Martinu foundation for the best played piece by this composer.  In summer 1994 and 1995 she was engaged as the first violist in “Die Junge Oesterreichische Philharmonie”.  In 1996 she represented The Academy of Performing Arts at the international meeting focused on chamber music.  She participated in the festival of chamber music in Schwetzingen in 2000 that was organized with the radio station Süddeutscher Rundfunk.

 In 1998 she became a member of the Bennewitz Quartet, an ensemble which gave concerts not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Netherlands, Austria, and Germany.  In 1999 it won the second prize in International Competition Beethovenuv Hradec.

 She plays the instrument made by Andreas Postacchini in 1857.
